A great way to still achieve your goals and also enjoy the little moments, is to create goals around balancing life and responsibilities.
We must understand what is important and essential. If taking on extra tasks at work is not benefiting your goals and life balance, say no. (We know this is more difficult than it seems).
- Create times for self-care
Self-care can simply be taking time to be alone with our thoughts. In order to manage and create balance, we must work on ourselves and lowering stress.
- Create specific times for just family
Life gets overwhelming with all of our responsibilities. Having set times for family can help us feel less guilty for taking the time to relax and enjoy the moment with loved ones.
- Create awareness
Goals do not have to be about just work and accomplishment. Take the time to learn a new skill, travel to a new place, learn about a new culture.
- Learn to have fun in all moments
Goals, family, jobs, self-care, etc., can all be fun if we make it fun. Try not to take things so seriously, joke often, laughter is the key to a happy, healthy, and fulfilling life.
We must focus on all areas of life for our goals, not just one.
For a balanced life, create goals in these areas of life:
- Family
This can consist of having a family or how much time we spend with family.
- Health & Wellness
This can include exercise, going to therapy, eating a healthy diet, etc.
- Relationships
This can be intimately or with friends, if you want to get married, buy a house with a partner, etc.
- Financial
How much money do you need to make? Do you want to save your money, invest, etc.?
- Spiritual
This can be religion, spirituality, culture, nature, and much more.
- Growth
We must have goals for personal growth to truly balance, enjoy, and live life.
If there was nothing in the way from achieving your goals, what would you want to do with your life, who/what would you surround yourself with, who would you choose to be there for? Focus on your passions and what is important to you. Goals are important, but goals can include having a balanced life so that you enjoy the little things. Many of us crave success and that is a good thing, but make sure that you are actually enjoying life for what makes you feel whole.
