We meet you where you are and use the approaches that are right for your unique goals, history, and needs.
In-person sessions available at our Chandler, AZ office. Telehealth therapy available statewide throughout Arizona.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is one of the most researched and effective forms of therapy available. CBT helps you identify and shift the thought patterns that are driving anxiety, depression, phobias, addictive behaviors, and more. Rather than dwelling on the past, CBT is focused and goal-oriented — giving you practical tools to change how you think, feel, and respond. Most clients begin noticing meaningful shifts within a relatively short timeframe.
Gottman Method Couples Therapy
Rooted in over 40 years of research, the Gottman Method is one of the most evidence-based approaches to couples therapy available. Our Gottman-trained therapists begin with a thorough assessment of your relationship and then use targeted interventions to help you rebuild friendship, improve conflict management, and create deeper shared meaning as a couple. Whether you are navigating recurring arguments, emotional distance, infidelity, or simply wanting to strengthen your bond, Gottman Method therapy offers a clear, research-backed path forward.
Somatic Therapy
Somatic Therapy recognizes what talk therapy alone often misses, trauma and chronic stress are not just stored in the mind, they live in the body. Through body-centered techniques including Somatic Experiencing, our therapists help you tune into physical sensations, regulate your nervous system, and gently release the stored tension of past experiences. Somatic therapy is especially effective for trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, and chronic stress responses.
Compassion-Focused Therapy
Many people who struggle with their mental health are also battling relentless self-criticism and shame. Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) helps you develop a kinder, more grounded relationship with yourself, not by dismissing your struggles, but by learning to respond to them with the same warmth you would offer someone you love. CFT is especially helpful for those dealing with shame, self-blame, depression, and anxiety rooted in early life experiences.
Exposure and Response Prevention
Exposure and Response Prevention is the gold-standard, evidence-based treatment for Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). ERP works by gradually and safely exposing you to the thoughts, images, or situations that trigger your obsessions while helping you resist the urge to engage in compulsive responses. Over time, this process reduces the power OCD has over your daily life. Our therapists guide you through every step, building your confidence and independence as you go.
LGBTQ+ Affirmative Therapy
A Beautiful Soul Holistic Counseling is a proud, affirming space for LGBTQ+ individuals and couples. Our LGBTQ+ Affirmative Therapy approach honors every aspect of who you are, your identity, your relationships, and your experiences, as a natural and valid part of being human. We support clients navigating identity exploration, coming out, relationship challenges, minority stress, family dynamics, and the unique mental health impacts of living in a world that does not always affirm you.
Mindfulness Based Therapy
Mindfulness-Based Therapy teaches you how to slow down, tune in, and observe your thoughts and feelings without being overwhelmed by them. Rather than fighting or suppressing difficult emotions, you learn to relate to them differently, creating space for clarity, choice, and lasting change. This approach is woven throughout much of our work at A Beautiful Soul and is particularly effective for anxiety, stress, depression, and burnout.
EMDR Therapy
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a highly effective, extensively researched therapy for trauma and PTSD. EMDR works by helping the brain reprocess disturbing memories that have become "stuck" restoring the mind's natural healing process. Clients often experience significant relief from traumatic symptoms in fewer sessions than traditional talk therapy. Our EMDR-trained therapists create a safe and structured environment so you can process the past without being retraumatized by it.
Brainspotting
Brainspotting is a powerful, body-based trauma therapy that goes beyond what traditional talk therapy can access. By identifying specific eye positions, or "brainspots", that correspond to areas of stored emotional pain, our therapists help you access and release trauma held deep in the brain and nervous system. Brainspotting is especially effective for trauma, PTSD, performance anxiety, chronic pain, and conditions that have not fully responded to other treatments.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) helps you stop fighting your inner world and start building a life aligned with what truly matters to you. Rather than trying to eliminate difficult thoughts and feelings, ACT teaches you to hold them differently, with acceptance rather than avoidance, so they no longer dictate your behavior. Clients find this approach liberating, practical, and deeply effective for anxiety, depression, chronic pain, and life transitions.
Internal Family Systems Therapy
Internal Family Systems is an evidence-based, compassionate framework that helps you understand and heal the different "parts" of yourself, including the wounded, protective, and critical inner voices that often drive your behavior. IFS therapy fosters deep self-awareness, self-compassion, and lasting healing by addressing the root of emotional pain rather than just managing symptoms. It is a highly effective approach for trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, and self-esteem.
Integrative Mental Health
Integrative Mental Health goes beyond traditional psychiatric and psychological care to treat the whole person... mind, body, and spirit. Our Certified Integrative Mental Health providers look at the full picture: nutrition, sleep, gut health, inflammation, hormones, and lifestyle factors that directly impact your mental health. This approach is especially transformative for clients who have tried traditional therapy or medication with limited results, or who are dealing with autoimmune conditions, chronic illness, or complex mental health presentations.
Issues Treated
Our therapists are trained to support a wide range of mental health concerns. Whether you are searching for anxiety therapy in Chandler, couples counseling in Chandler/Gilbert, trauma therapy in Mesa, or holistic mental health support anywhere in Arizona, we are here to help.
Frequently asked questions
People seek counseling for many reasons — feeling stuck, overwhelmed, anxious, or disconnected. Others come to address specific challenges like trauma, relationship struggles, OCD, eating disorders, or major life transitions. Some simply know something feels off and want support figuring out why. Whatever brings you here, you do not need to have it all figured out before reaching out.
Choosing a therapist is personal, and the fit matters enormously. We encourage you to read through each therapist’s bio and specializations on our Meet Your Therapists page. If you are still unsure, book a free consultation and let us help match you. We would rather take the time to get the pairing right than have you end up in a therapeutic relationship that does not feel aligned. Your comfort and trust in your therapist is the foundation everything else is built on.
That is completely normal, and you are not alone. Many of our clients come to us having never spoken to a therapist before. You do not need to know exactly what to say or have your story perfectly organized. You just need to show up. Your therapist will guide the conversation, move at your pace, and create a space where you feel safe enough to open up gradually. The hardest part is usually making the first call, and we try to make even that feel easy.
When the therapeutic relationship is a good fit, clients often experience greater clarity, emotional relief, new insights, and a stronger sense of self. Therapy is not always comfortable — real change requires working through difficult emotions — but our clients consistently find that the temporary discomfort of the process is far more manageable than continuing to carry what brought them in. You will work alongside your therapist as a true partner in your healing.
The length of therapy varies widely depending on your goals, the concerns you are working on, and how you progress. Some clients come for a focused 8 to 12 session engagement around a specific issue. Others choose to do longer-term work as they explore deeper patterns and pursue ongoing growth. There is no pressure to commit to a set number of sessions upfront. You and your therapist will regularly check in on your progress and adjust the plan as needed.
Before your first session, you will be given access to a secure online client portal to share your background, history, and goals. Your first sessions are focused on getting to know you — your story, your concerns, and what you hope to gain from therapy. You set the pace. You will never be pushed to share more than you are ready for.
Individual therapy sessions are typically 50 minutes. Couples counseling sessions are scheduled for 90 minutes to allow adequate time for both partners. Most clients meet weekly, which allows for consistent progress and momentum between sessions.
Yes. Everything you share in therapy is protected by strict confidentiality laws. Your therapist cannot share your information with anyone without your written consent, with very limited legal exceptions such as if there is imminent risk of harm to yourself or others, or in cases of suspected child or elder abuse. Your privacy is taken seriously, and your records are stored securely through our HIPAA-compliant client portal.
We currently accept BCBS and Lyra Health, and also offer Private Pay options. Choosing private pay means no insurance company dictates your diagnosis, the number of sessions you can have, or the treatment approach your therapist uses — giving you and your therapist complete freedom to focus on what actually helps you heal. We are happy to provide a superbill for clients seeking out-of-network reimbursement.
Yes. We offer telehealth therapy to clients throughout the entire state of Arizona. Whether you are in Phoenix, Scottsdale, Tempe, Gilbert, Mesa, Queen Creek, or anywhere else in AZ, you can access our services from the comfort and privacy of your own home.
Yes. Couples counseling is one of our core specialties at A Beautiful Soul Holistic Counseling. Our therapists are trained in the Gottman Method, one of the most research-backed approaches to relationship therapy available, and work with couples navigating conflict, emotional disconnection, infidelity, communication breakdowns, premarital concerns, and more. Couples sessions are 90 minutes and available both in-person in Chandler and via telehealth across Arizona.
Traditional therapy tends to focus primarily on thoughts, behaviors, and emotions. Holistic counseling goes further by treating the whole person: mind, body, and spirit. At A Beautiful Soul, we also look at how physical health factors like nutrition, sleep, gut health, hormones, and chronic illness intersect with your mental health. This means we are not just treating symptoms. We are looking for root causes. This approach is especially effective for clients who have tried traditional therapy before without lasting results.
Integrative mental health combines conventional mental health care with evidence-informed approaches from functional and lifestyle medicine. Our Certified Integrative Mental Health Providers assess how factors like inflammation, autoimmune conditions, hormonal imbalances, and nutritional deficiencies contribute to anxiety, depression, mood instability, and other mental health concerns. The goal is a truly comprehensive treatment plan that addresses the full picture of your health, not just one piece of it.
Yes, and this is one of the areas where our practice truly stands apart. Living with an autoimmune condition or chronic illness carries a significant mental health burden that many traditional therapists are not equipped to address. Our team understands the grief, identity shifts, relationship strain, and anxiety that often accompany a chronic diagnosis. We use an integrative approach to support both your emotional wellbeing and your body’s healing process simultaneously.
Yes. Several of our therapists are trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), which is one of the most effective evidence-based treatments for trauma and PTSD. EMDR is available both in-person at our Chandler office and via telehealth for clients across Arizona. If you are unsure whether EMDR is right for you, we are happy to discuss it during your free consultation.
Brainspotting is a highly effective trauma therapy that works by locating specific eye positions connected to stored emotional pain in the brain and nervous system. It is particularly well-suited for clients who have experienced trauma that feels too overwhelming to talk about directly, those who have plateaued in traditional talk therapy, athletes or performers dealing with performance anxiety, and individuals dealing with chronic pain or physical symptoms connected to emotional stress. Nicole O’Hare is trained to Level II in Brainspotting and offers this modality at our Chandler location.
Yes. Anxiety is one of the most common reasons people seek therapy, and our team is well-equipped to help. We use a combination of approaches including CBT, ACT, Mindfulness-Based Therapy, Somatic Therapy, and EMDR, depending on what is driving your anxiety and what works best for you. Whether you are dealing with generalized anxiety, social anxiety, health anxiety, panic attacks, or OCD, we will build a plan that fits your specific experience.
Yes. We serve clients throughout the East Valley, including Gilbert, Mesa, Tempe, Queen Creek, and the Greater Phoenix area, both in-person and via telehealth. Our therapists take a holistic view of depression, exploring emotional, relational, physical, and lifestyle factors that may be contributing, rather than simply managing symptoms. If you have struggled to find relief through medication or traditional therapy alone, our integrative approach may offer a meaningful difference.
Yes, and this is something we are deeply committed to. Several of our therapists have specialized training in multicultural counseling, racial trauma, and culturally affirming care. We understand that systemic racism, intergenerational trauma, cultural identity, and community stress are real mental health factors that require a therapist who truly gets it. Our practice is a safe, affirming, and culturally responsive space.
Yes. Our therapists have experience supporting neurodivergent individuals, including those with ADHD, autism spectrum traits, and learning differences. We understand that neurodivergence is not a deficit. It is a different way of experiencing and interacting with the world. Our approach is strengths-based, affirming, and tailored to how your brain actually works rather than expecting you to fit a neurotypical mold.
