Meet Your Therapist

Hi, my name is Keyaria Ivey. I went to Colorado State University where I received my Bachelor’s degree in Clinical/counseling psychology. I have a minor in sign language and would love to eventually work with Deaf/HOH communities. I am currently interning at A Beautiful Soul Holistic Counseling, under the supervision of Nicole O’Hare, MS, LPC, CIMHP, as one of the final steps to complete my Master’s in Counseling at ASU.

In my approach to therapy, I center authenticity, cultivating deeper self-understanding, a strengths-based approach, and social justice while honoring social and cultural nuances. I believe that healing is not linear and requires self-compassion and understanding of one’s context/community. Collaboration is something I deeply value in the therapeutic process, as you are the expert in your life and the narrator of your story. I want to create a space for each person I work with to feel safe in exploring the uncomfortable and scary parts of their reality. 

I am passionate about holistic wellness/healing and have been engaging in personally building a wealth of knowledge on nutrition, fitness, as well herbal and naturopathic medicines. I am a believer in generational wealth including that of knowledge of cultural spirituality, medicines, traditions, and historical events. Connecting or reconnecting with ancestral knowledge can be thought of as a window to the soul, providing an opportunity for incredibly deep understanding and empathy for one’s family and community, ultimately getting to the root of issues rather than providing bandaids as a way to manage.

My approach is influenced by tenets of Liberation psychology, ACT, IFS, trauma-informed care, and somatic therapy. While I am not an expert in these areas, I am continuing to learn and integrate these ideologies into practice with each coming day. I dedicate myself to being a life-learner, forever taking in and accommodating new information to create a better world around me. I look forward to having the opportunity to engage in an exchange of knowledge with clients as a way of facilitating growth and self-exploration.
